PALEOECOLOGY PALEOECOLOGY PALEOECOLOGY Amazonian exploitation revisited: ecological asymmetry and the policy pendulum
© The Ecological Society of America www.frontiersinecology.org T first scientists to enter Amazonia encountered a wonderland of undescribed organisms living in what appeared to be unoccupied and untouched forest. Adjectives they used to describe the forest included “virgin”, “pristine”, and “timeless”, a vision which became incorporated into scientific thinking. Explanations of high Amazonian d...
متن کاملSimple Pendulum Revisited
We describe a 8085 microprocessor interface developed to make reliable time period measurements. The time period of each oscillation of a simple pendulum was measured using this interface. The variation of the time period with increasing oscillation was studied for the simple harmonic motion (SHM) and for large angle initial displacements (non-SHM). The results underlines the importance of the ...
متن کاملInvestigating the relationship among information asymmetry, dividend policy and ownership structure
The purpose of a financial manager in dividend policy is to maximize the wealth of its owners while providing adequate funds for the company. In this research, the aim is to determine the relationship between information asymmetry, dividend policies and ownership structure. After designing information asymmetry evaluation indicators, the transaction information has been collected from the Stock...
متن کاملThe forward-backward asymmetry at NNLO revisited
I reconsider the forward-backward asymmetry for flavoured quarks in electron-positron annihilation. I suggest an infrared-safe definition of this observable, such that the asymmetry may be computed in perturbative QCD with massless quarks. With this definition, the first and second order QCD corrections are computed.
متن کاملExploitation, Exploration, and Process Management: the Productivity Dilemma Revisited
Organization and strategy research has stressed the need for organizations to simultaneously exploit existing capabilities while developing new ones. Yet this increasingly crucial challenge has been accompanied by an ongoing wave of managerial activity and institutional pressures for process management and control. We argue that these pressures stunt a firm’s dynamic capabilities. We develop a ...
